This Week:

Update: It’s been all change for me this week as I’ve made a big life choice - to take a two year sabbatical from my businesses. Last week I shared that we recently sold our broadband company and with it, I resigned from my day-to-day role and working on the board. In case you’re new here, Brillband wasn’t my only business. Before I went on maternity leave last year, I was working on raising my first venture investment fund to invest in early-stage tech companies. And if I’m honest, returning to my day jobs hasn’t been easy. With two little kids, the mental load was unbearably heavy. My work involves a lot of pressure, meetings (often face-to-face), unsociable hours and travel. And right now, it’s just not my season for having that kind of job. I’m fortunate as my own boss to be able to choose to do something like this. To put the breaks on those businesses and step off the treadmill for a while. But I also wouldn’t be able to take this kind of break and work on other things, if I hadn’t built a flexible, and frankly lucrative, additional business for myself online. The reality is, I can take the time because I can afford to - a luxury that doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s taken me two years to get to this point - the point where I have options and I can make choices that are best for my own wellbeing, and most importantly, for my children. I know I’ll blink and the tiny hands that reach for mine, won’t anymore (my son already insists that I stand well back from the school entrance and he walks in himself) and I’m so grateful to the past me who decided to just go for it and build an additional source of income for myself. Because now I have options. And that’s what we all want right?

Challenge: Perspective is everything. This week inside the Keep It Simple Club one of our members Katie (who is brilliant for all things mindset and body confidence btw you should follow her >) shared such a positive win that completely changed my perspective. Right now Katie is on her fourth cycle of chemo and should be resting (!) but instead she’s been beating herself up about all the things she hasn’t managed to do. Then because she’s a coach (and sometimes we need to coach ourselves) she flipped her perspective and made a list of all the things she has done. Growing on instagram, creating a new challenge for her followers (and getting the most sales ever for it!), and teaching herself new things to name just a few from the list… Incredible right? I know she’s a powerhouse and she doesn’t give herself enough credit. Chances are you aren’t giving yourself enough credit either. So instead of thinking about all the things you haven’t done, try this, flip your perspective and make a list of everything you have done instead.

Podcast to listen to: Get comfortable with people not liking you! - Florence Given on embracing the cringe with Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place Podcast.

Content Series to Follow: Dr Aishah on Instagram’s new content series on quick healthy recipes has me hooked. I’m so bad at remembering to eat when I’m working *but not anymore!

Books to read to improve your relationship with money (which is the secret to making more of it)

Getting better with money and making more of it, starts with your mindset. I’ve been talking a lot recently with my friend Laura about how important working on your mindset is if you want to make more money (spoiler, she’s coming to do an implementation session inside the member’s club soon). One of my most-asked Q&A questions is for book recommendations so with that in mind, below are my top picks and essential reading for improving your money mindset.

Overcoming Under-earning by Barbara Stanny - this is one of my most-highlighted books ever. If you read one from this list, make it this one.

Money, A Love Story by Kate Northrup - ok maybe this one actually also has a lot of highlighting, and a tonne of practical money exercises in it too!

Money Mentor by Anna Brading - another gem I shared a few weeks ago full of exercises.

Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez - this is a classic and offers practical ways think about your finances and how to actually pay attention to them!

Rewire for Wealth by Barbara Huson - According to studies, women’s and men’s brains process information differently―especially when it comes to money. In this book Huson shares how women can rewire their brains for wealth.

Tech hacks to save you time

This week in the member’s club we’ve been setting up automations to create a more scalable business. Below you’ll find some of my most-used tech hacks that are quick time-saving wins you can implement straight away.

  1. Using OneTab to open all the tabs in my chrome browser every time I open it.

  2. I use LastPass to securely store and retrieve passwords, making logging into various accounts faster and safer.

  3. I use Dext to digitally manage receipts and expenses. You can take a picture on your phone or forward receipts to a dedicated email to easily reconcile in your accounts.

  4. I use TextExpander to save and insert commonly used phrases or responses with a keystroke, ideal for replying to FAQs or internal messages quickly.

  5. Setting up filters and rules in gmail allows me to integrate ChatGPT to draft responses to my emails for me based on categories and pre-trained customGPTs. (If you have no idea what this is then you should come to the masterclass I’m hosting next week on building CustomGPTs for your business/life!) Once you start using CustomGPTs you’ll wonder why you haven’t done this sooner!

2025 Planning Sessions

It’s time to talk about making a plan for 2025. Personally, I love a New Year’s boost of motivation and a chance for a reset. But what I love even more is planning and taking action ahead of time. On New Year’s Day this year my audience size grew by 30,000 people in 72hrs and it’s contributed hugely to my growth and financial success this year. The “overnight” success wasn’t overnight at all. I planned it all ahead of time.

So let’s get planning for 2025…

You can register your interest in 2025 free planning sessions below (I’ll probably host a couple).

Have a great week ahead & remember to keep it simple.
