Update: Over the past few weeks, I’ve intentionally slowed things down to spend time with family, clear space for deeper thinking, and get really focused on executing on plans. Because sometimes, the best way to move forward isn’t by doing more, it’s by zooming out, getting clear on the bigger picture, and then making every move count.
When you are building a business, especially like I do in public, I think it’s easy to get caught up focusing on the things that people can visibly see as a mark of progress. More content, more followers, more marketing… and whilst yes, I’m an advocate for spending 80% of your time on doing things that generate income, marketing and sales, these last two weeks I’ve been working on the 20% - the system that makes the 80% possible in a scalable and sustainable way.

Book Recommendation: Supercommunicators by Charles Duhigg.
I was asked in a podcast interview recently what unites the most successful people I’ve met? It threw me for a second as I don’t think there is one silver bullet to success, rather a series of common threads that I see time and time again. One of those threads is the ability to communicate effectively. You can have the best idea in the world, but unless you can communicate your message clearly and succinctly to other people in a way that inspires and motivates them, you’ll never get very far from the starting blocks.
In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg breaks down what makes some people incredibly persuasive and how you can apply these techniques to sell ideas, build trust, and influence others.
Key takeaways:
How to make conversations more impactful and engaging
Why storytelling is the most powerful tool in communication
The secret to adapting your message for different audiences
Why great communicators are great listeners
This is a must-read for anyone looking to master the art of human connection.
Food for thought - the best & worst of times:
Forerunner Ventures recently released a report on how more people are becoming the CEOs of their own lives by leveraging AI, new ways of working, and smarter financial strategies to take control of their income and future.
Depressingly, but perhaps unsurprisingly, 30 year olds today are financially worse off than any previous generation. Perhaps this explains why the 9-5 is losing its grip and more people are choosing flexible work over traditional jobs, with the gig economy set to triple by 2032.
So where are the opportunities and why should you care?
AI is levelling the playing field. What used to take a team (or a ton of money) can now be automated. From AI-powered marketing to smart business tools, small businesses can now compete at a higher level with less effort.
Money might be tight, but opportunity is growing. As we all seek efficiencies across the board, demand is increasing for products, services, and strategies that help people earn, save, and invest smarter. You can read the full article here >
This week’s mindset moodboard:

Learn about AI for free
A few weeks ago, I shared my new business and platform Espresso AI with the mission of reaching 5,000,000 people to close the AI literacy gap with non-technical AI education and resources. Today I’m excited to share the first part of my AI for Beginners mini course. This 9-part course is completely free for you to access and covers everything from how AI works and a beginners guide to ChatGPT and prompt-engineering through to AI ethics and the future of work.
If you’ve been looking for a free, non-technical, guide to AI that covers all of the basic building blocks, then this mini course is for you.
If you’re already using AI as a business owner or solo entrepreneur but you don’t feel like you are really getting the most out of its potential then I have something more in-depth coming for you later this week - Espresso AI’s first AI & Automations programmes.
These aren’t surface-level courses but a deep dive and step-by-step walkthrough of how to set up an AI-powered business so that you can scale without hiring.
The £1,000 question
A few years, I was asked a question that completely changed the way I approached my business - what would I do this week if I needed to make an extra £20,000 by the end of the month?
It really stopped me in my tracks and forced me to zoom out and also think about immediate, high-leverage actions. Since then, I’ve revisited this question often and it never fails to force me out of my own way and look at the things that truly matter and will make a difference.
Now I’m passing on the baton to you - ask yourself the question, “If I had to make £1,000 this week, with no extra time, what would I do?”
Of course, it doesn’t have to be £20,000, or even £1,000, but it does have to be a huge stretch from wherever you are right now.
The reality is, so many of us get stuck focusing on small wins—saving £5 here, cutting costs there—when a much bigger opportunity is sitting right in front of us. This question forces you to shift your focus from minor optimisations to high-impact, high-leverage actions.
Whenever I apply this rule, I stop wasting time on things that won’t move the needle and start focusing on:
High-value sales and recurring income
Creating and selling digital products (instead of trading time for money)
Email marketing (instead of just relying on social media)
So, here’s your challenge: If you had to make £1,000 this week, what would you do? And once you figure that out—why aren’t you doing it already?
Have a great week ahead & remember to keep it simple.
