How I consistently make £10k+, Managing the Juggle and Building a Community

The email that helps you start a business by keeping things simple.

This week:

Update: This week I opened the doors to The Keep It Simple Club and hosted the first live Q&A session. It’s been the biggest joy and what I hope will be my legacy for this platform I’ve built online. This isn’t a huge group, nor do I intend it to be. Instead it’s a supportive, action-orientated community of people who are running businesses of all shapes and sizes. Some have started, many haven’t and are just at idea stage but we’re all in together. This week members have been sharing tips for how to improve your video edits on CapCut, how to grow on Pinterest and supported one another to decide on business ideas to pursue. It’s been amazing to see, and the platform is shaping up to be my favourite place online.

Doors close to new members on Tuesday 13th of August - you can find out more here >

Question to ask yourself this week: What would you do if you thought you couldn’t fail?

Words to live by: Start late, start over, start again, start scared. Just start.

How I consistently make £10k+ each month alongside my full time job

This time last year I was working my socks off getting systems in place to ensure my businesses kept working for me during my planned maternity leave from September. And it paid off in a way that was far bigger than I ever imagined.

I’ve consistently made over £10k a month or more every single month since September last year in additional income alongside my main job/being on maternity leave.

So what is the secret to this success? What’s the system?

Honestly it’s a combination of things:

  1. I’ve created products and offerings utilising my own knowledge and experience that puts me in a category of one. I’m not competing with anyone else, I’m not racing to the bottom on price and I’ve created products and solutions to genuine problems people are experiencing right now. I share more on exactly how I’ve set everything up in this masterclass series >

  2. I’ve got as much as possible automated and use AI to my advantage without compromising on quality and authenticity. Do I use AI to write and create content? No, because that comes naturally to me. Do I use it to manage my calendar, inbox, operations and sales? Absolutely. This use of technology also transfers to business model. I make £12-21k a month because the business model allows me to. I’m doing something that is highly scalable and highly profitable so that I can reinvest in other things.

  3. I show up even when I don’t want to. I know that success is the result of compounding action. Yes there are points of inflection in growth, when you turn a corner and suddenly the marketing skyrockets and customers start converting at a quickening pace, but ultimately those inflection points are the result of all the work and action that comes before.

  4. I make plans. I decide what I want and then I quickly take action and iterate and change the plan based on the feedback. I’m obsessed with the destination and flexible about how I get there.

  5. I have a support network that get it. I’ve been in this game long enough to know the impact of the people you surround yourself with on your success. I actively seek out friends who are also running businesses and I’m fortunate that I’m married to an entrepreneur too.

It’s the combination that makes the difference. There’s no one secret silver bullet.

Managing The Juggle

The juggle is real. Especially over the summer. Here are some things that are helping me find balance right now:

  1. If you need something to take the edge off that transition from working all day to dinner, bath and bedtime routines then I highly recommend Trip drinks.

  2. This week I’ve taken a break from my usual non-fiction business books and finally finished Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld. I loved it and highly recommend!

  3. I don’t know about you but my house is a sensory sh*t show in the summer. Between my kids snack requests, the dog barking at the postie and the relentless beeping and whirring of the dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc, it’s no wonder that by the end of the day my brain is fried! I recently tried a new hack that helps me massively with sensory overwhelm and it’s super simple. I keep my headphones in. I know you can get fancy ear plugs but I’ve found keeping my regular wired headphones in my ears without anything playing works just fine to dull some of the auditory overwhelm.

  4. I recently decided to make running part of my personality and started the couch to 5k programme and it’s made a world of difference to my afternoon productivity. I find it easier to squeeze in at lunch when I’m working from home and it’s transformed my energy levels and mental clarity.

Have a great week ahead & remember to keep it simple.
